Led by conductor Anthony Princiotti the VSO program "The Lake Effect" celebrates both the explorer and the lake.
Musical selections include Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” an overture by Berlioz, selections from Les Misérables, Sousa’s Hands Across the Sea March, Handel’s Water Music, and show tunes from South Pacific. Fireworks accompany the 1812 Overture for a dramatic bon soir.
This year's tour will conclude the Vermont Symphony Orchestra's 74th season. The summer tour is a favorite of locals and tourists alike, with children dancing to the full orchestra alongside blankets and lawn chairs. Each outdoor performance closes with fireworks synchronized to Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" (weather permitting). All concerts begin at 7:30 with gates open in time for picnicking.
