Farmers’ Markets Nourish Your Family and Vermont Communities

Farm Fresh

Vermont’s agriculture and arts scene flourish at more than 85 farmers’ markets during the summer season. Farmers’ markets offer more than typical notions of running errands or buying groceries - they are an experience - showcasing Vermont’s abundant local foods and crafts culture – where heirloom tomatoes rest next to hand-made furniture and ethnic foods and fiddlers unite. This aggregate of culture and cultivation is growing in the Green Mountain State; there are more farmers’ markets and more vendors and the variety of products are also increasing.

With Vermont’s abundance of small farmers, artisans and food producers, local farmers’ markets provide a setting to enjoy the outdoors and find fresh produce, baked goods, arts, and crafts of the highest quality - while connecting directly with the farmers and producers.

“Not only are farmers markets a great way for customers to get their produce but it’s also a great way for customers to learn about us,” Christa Alexander, farmer at Jericho Settlers Farm said. “With face to face interaction, we can relay information about our farm, how and why we grow the things we sell. It also gives us a chance to get to know our customers really well. A lot of our regular customers have become great friends.”
