Step One: JOURNAL PAGES
Photocopy pages 13 and 14 in the Vermont History Trek Activity Guide. We suggest making 6 copies, photocopied on both sides. Fold the pages in half and place each folded page inside another until you have a booklet with 24 pages.
Step Two: FRONT AND BACK COVERS
Photocopy page 15 of the Vermont History Trek Activity Guide on one half of a sheet of paper. When you fold it, you will have the History Trek Scorecard for your back copver, and a blank side for your Journal cover.
Step Three: BINDING
Now you are ready to bind your journal cover and pages together. A needle with yarn or string is all that you need.
To bind, make three holes in the spine of your booklet. Thread the need with a length of yarn that is three times the length of the spine. Starting at one of the ends, sew in and out of the holes until you are back where you started from. Tie the yarn ends tightly together in a knot to finish.
Step Five: COVER
Decorate your journal cover. As you can see, Sarah Smith is all ready to head out on her Vermont History Trek. She's going to bring both the Activity Guide and her journal to the Historic Sites she's decided to visit.
