Play On! Shakespeare & Music
Sat., Nov. 1, 8 p.m. Play On! Shakespeare & Music Music: The Hop's resident wind ensemble teams up with the Dartmouth Rude Mechanicals for an evening of musical selections and the Bard's texts that inspired them. Ages 8 and up. Spaulding Auditorium.
Perlman Music Program Celebration Concert
Sat., Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m. Perlman Music Program Celebration Concert Music: As a culmination of its annual fall residency in Stowe, the Perlman Music Program alumni ensembles perform chamber music masterworks, and Maestro Itzhak Perlman conducts the PMP String Orchestra. Recommended for ages 8 and up and practicing violin students.
World Run Day
Sun., Nov. 9, 8:30-11:30 a.m. World Run Day Health & Fitness: Fleet-footed kids hoof it around Burlington in a one-mile fun run, followed by a 5K at 9:30 a.m. Coffee, bagels and a raffle follow the race. Children under 7 must be accompanied on the run by an adult.
Vermont Dance & Drum Festival
Fri., Nov. 7, 5:30-8:45 p.m., Sat., Nov. 8, 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 9, 9:30 a.m.-6:15 p.m. Vermont Dance & Drum Festival Fairs & Festivals: Three days of West African music and movement inspire all ages during this Jeh Kulu Dance and Drum Theater event. Artists from Guinea, Senegal and Mali share their rhythms during workshops and performances, including a free Sunday class just for kids and presentations by Jeh Kulu’s youngest members. Preregister to participate in classes.
Burlington Outdoor Riglet Park
Sat., Nov. 15, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Burlington Outdoor Riglet Park Health & Fitness: The south side of the aquarium is converted to a snowy obstacle course where kids ages 3-8 navigate challenges with the help of Smuggs and Burton staffers.
Burton Indoors Riglet Park
Nov. 1-16 Burton Indoors Riglet Park Ongoing Exhibits: Young shredders ages 3-8 explore an interactive display of snowboarding, including balance boards, crafts, a mini terrain park and puzzles. Weekdays from 2:30-5 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.. Through November 16.
FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition
Sun., Nov. 16, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition Nature & Science: Teams of tech-savvy kids ages 9-14 program an autonomous robot to score points on a themed playing field and create innovative solutions to problems.
Machine Madness
Sat., Nov. 22, 1-3 p.m. Machine Madness Nature & Science: Emerging engineers of all ages link their home-built contraptions to create an incredible chain reaction.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats
Fri., Nov. 28, 3 & 7 p.m. The Golden Dragon Acrobats Theater: Acrobatics, traditional dance and lavish costumes come together for this spectacular show celebrating the best of an ancient Chinese Royal Tradition. Recommended for ages 5 and up.
'The Nutcracker'
Sat., Nov. 29, 3 & 7 p.m. and Sun., Nov. 30, 1 p.m. 'The Nutcracker' Dance: Young dancers from the Albany Berkshire Ballet visit the Land of Sweets in this holiday classic. All ages.
Candy-Cane-Making Demo
Wednesdays, 11 a.m., Fridays, 11 a.m., Saturdays, 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. Continues through Dec. 21 Candy-Cane-Making Demo Arts & Crafts: Families make holiday memories as they watch confectioners in action, or they can get in on the fun and make twisted treats of their own. Preregister to participate.
