Outdoor Recreation

While a scenic tour of Vermont's pastoral landscape and towns is always rewarding, Vermont's ample wilderness and waterways welcome visitors to step into the panorama and discover natural environments and culture up close.

Nearly a dozen Vermont communities provide informational pamphlets for self-guided walking tours of their nationally recognized historic districts. Vermont also has an abundance of parks, hundreds of miles of hiking trails, cycling tours, boat cruises and several other niche outfitters and guides. In the winter season, options include alpine and Nordic skiing, dog-sledding, snowmobile tours, sleigh rides and snowshoeing.
