It's a classic downtown with a hardware store, pharmacies, banks, a library, and a natural foods supermarket and deli. The choices for lunch or dinner are numerous, ranging from five-star continental cuisine to informal ethnic eateries. A local coffee roaster and two microbreweries add to the town's unique flavor.
Art lovers will find that downtown Brattleboro offers a broad spectrum of local galleries, theaters, dance studios, music centers, and a museum. Cafes, bakeries, and bookstores foster community, providing gathering places for area residents and visitors alike. The downtown contains a small collection of shops within a glassed-in building that captures the feeling of open air, and has a patio overlooking the river.
Annual festivals brighten the streets with the Strolling of the Heifers in June, the Puppets in the Green Mountains in early fal,l and DecemberFest in the winter.
Located just minutes from Interstate 91, downtown Brattleboro is accessed via Exits 1 and 2, and is less than 5 miles from the Southern Vermont Welcome Center in Guilford.
