In Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom region, Newport lies on the southern shore of Lake Memphremagog just a few miles south of the Quebec border and offers ample opportunity for boating, swimming, hiking, biking, and more. Summer concerts on the waterfront and local dining and distilling add color to Newport’s small city life.

Vermont’s northernmost city, Newport has a lot to offer, from close proximity to Jay Peak Resort with the state’s only indoor waterpark to beachfront camping, swimming, and paddling. Indoors, discover art galleries and a library that straddles the U.S.-Canada border.

Haskell Free Library

This historic opera house is located both in Canada and in the U.S. and features a live performance space inside.

Beebe Spur Rail Trail

This 6-mile level path takes hikers, cyclists, walkers, and skiers to the U.S.-Canada border at Derby.
