Woodstock, Vermont 

Known for its quaint New England charm, including the Middle covered bridge, which traverses a branch of the Ottauquechee River downtown, Woodstock is a four-season destination. The first uphill ski conveyance in America was introduced in Woodstock in 1934 at what would become Saskadena Six, a ski area recently renamed to acknowledge the land’s Indigenous roots. In the summer, trails open up surrounding Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s “Little Grand Canyon,” formed by glacial activity 13,000 years ago.

Quechee Gorge

Vermont’s “Little Grand Canyon” plunges to 165 feet. View it from above over a bridge or hike the trails down to the water.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park

Vermont’s only national park, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller includes 25 miles of carriage roads and trails, guided hikes, and education on the Abenaki community.

Saskadena Six

One of the oldest ski areas in the country, America’s oldest uphill ski conveyance was introduced in Woodstock in 1934. Visit to ski or ride in the winter and mountain bike in the summer.

Billings Farm and Museum

Attraction Spotlight

Vermont Institute of Natural Science

See species of raptors from all over the U.S. at VINS, which focuses on wild bird conservation and rehabilitation. The fully accessible Forest Canopy Walk takes people of all ages and ability levels on a slowly rising boardwalk tour of the forest. Take in incredible views of the Ottauquechee River from the height of a bald eagle’s nest. The on-site songbird aviary offers a place for peace and calm.
