Downtown Rutland
Colorful, Historic, Festive
Rutland is home to a picturesque historic downtown rich with community events, arts, and character and is conveniently located in central Vermont close to several mountains and lakes. Historic Downtown Rutland is the heart of Rutland County, with dozens of shops and restaurants, as well as a world-class performing arts venue. It's easy to have the perfect day in Rutland: Make your way to the acclaimed Vermont Farmers Market in Depot Park from May to October, grab a bite and maybe a local brew in one of many independently owned localvore restaurants before taking in a show at the brilliantly restored 1912 Paramount Theatre. Special events are a regular happening in downtown, including the renowned Halloween parade, Friday Night Live free concert series, Sip and Shop events, the annual sidewalk sales and Santa’s arrival by fire truck for the holiday Tree Lighting. Rutland is also home to a new, 24,000-square-foot coworking space, Hub CoWorks, with podcasting space and room for an artist incubator. For outdoor adventure, downtown Rutland is strategically located in the center of it all, with lakes, ski mountains, hiking, biking and more minutes away.
