Make a family moment memorable, one step at a time.
Once the seasons transition from winter to spring, it’s time to watch our natural surroundings come alive. Plants start to bud, animals come out of hibernation, and the landscape takes on a whole new look. It's a great time to be outside.
For many, it's the first opportunity to get back on the trail since the previous fall. There's a hiking trail for all skill and motivation levels. Hiking with your family can be one of the most memorable moments on your trip, especially if it's the first time someone makes it to a summit or scenic vista.
Vermont State Parks open in May and offer the outdoor enthusiast plenty of ways to enjoy the natural landscape. If you plan to hike prior to Memorial Day, be mindful of the mud and look for lower-elevation hardwood forests. Our scenic bikepaths are also great alternatives in the spring.
